High School Intensive Photography Workshop
The summer photography program is a comprehensive, hands-on workshop for high school students. The program is open to students who have completed their freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior years.
Over the course of the week, students will explore all aspects of photography and develop a clear vision of what the different disciplines entail. The workshop will teach students that photography is not only a viable career, but an incredible tool for storytelling. Images have a powerful role in shaping our society and our view of the world.
One of the most exciting aspects of the workshops is the participation of our corporate sponsors. Students will have access to digital SLRs, pro lighting and desktop editing computers. We are also inviting several professional photographers to work with the students in their respective disciplines.
We start the workshop at the beginning. You don’t need any prior photography experience-in fact, you don’t even need a camera. We provide the tools to get you started. We thoroughly cover the cameras, lighting, and software used in contemporary photography and explain the principles that govern these tools.
Students will learn about the principles of lighting and composition. How do we take a photograph from a simple snapshot to a piece of art, a publishable image, or a final professional print?
What is your photography interest? Where do you see your photography going?
We will explore fine art, commercial, advertising, fashion, portrait, landscape, sports, journalism, and documentary photography. We will work hands-on, completing realistic assignments in each field.
Explore the ins and outs of each discipline and what it takes to make a career in the field. Learn how to construct a portfolio, prepare a project, present images, and make it work as a career. We will evaluate your images and work with you on your final project.’
At the end of this week you will see how you have grown as an artist. Where will you take your photography-and where will it take you?
