Description

This PSA opens with a politician making a speech at an indoor podium professing to the need to love one’s land and serve one’s country. The message “It’s beautiful to love your country,” fills the screen. The next scene is of the same man who professed love for one’s country, exiting the venue where he delivered his speech, and throwing a cigarette butt to the pavement. The sound design underscores the disappointment of this scene. The final message appears on screen with a patriotic song behind it – “But if you love your country, you have to respect it. That’s real love…Respect Kuwait.”

Khaled Al-Roudan & Dalal Al-Fulai are a married couple, active in Kuwait Youth Organization, who chose to highlight the nature of older generation politicians in Kuwait, who profess to love their country but act in hypocritical ways. They wish to communicate to a new generation of Kuwaitis, that they can demonstrate a new ethic of genuine love and respect for one’s country.
