Unity – by Mr. Faisal Al-Duwaisan & Mr. Ali Khajah

Organization

Student Forces Congregation

Description

The video pictures a man’s hands set against a simple white backdrop, breaking a black pencil, red pencil, green pencil and white pencil in rapid succession. The individual pencils break faster and faster like popping firecrackers. The next image is set to nationalistic music. The hands wrap a wide piece of masking tape around a thick stack of pencils colored black, red, green and white. The man’s hands try to break the stack but cannot. He revolves the stack in his hand, and as he does, a message appears on the tape that says “UNITY”, followed by the message, “Unity Makes A Country.” The final message is that a country is stronger when unity prevails between its people.

Faisal Al-Duwaisan of Kuwait’s Cine Club conceptualized and directed this PSA with Ali Khajah, the Director of Student Forces Congregation, to encourage young Kuwaitis to overcome various forms of exclusion, in order to make Kuwait a better country. They used the colors black, red, green and white, to symbolize the colors of Kuwait’s national flag.

Faisal is an active Director of Photographer in Kuwait, and belongs to numerous filmmakers societies. He is eager to connect with other filmmakers and opportunities internationally. This was Ali’s first film, and he welcomes the opportunity to network with other youth organizations internationally.
