This 30-second PSA created by the Bahraini Society for Womans Development (Bahrain Women Union), targets a youth audience and aims to catalyze them to think about their future and create an attitudinal change towards self-responsibility. The PSA begins with an extreme close up of the hand of a clock dramatically ticking off seconds. The scene flashes between a young man watching the clock tick and rapid subsequent images of him turning and thinking in a hall of mirrors. The clock strikes twelve, and a chord strikes. The young man points directly to the viewer and says, “It’s time for change.” The next image pictures his feet on a trampoline steadily rising higher and higher. His arms and hands fly overhead. A voice delivers a message in English, Reach higher and higher. Learn. Try. Give. We can help you fly. The final image of the boys rising body dissolves into a white background that displays the organizations web site and contact information. The PSA will be used in youth groups and retreats to motivate young people to overcome their inertia. The PSA was created in English because it is a language that many young people look towards to define social norms.
This PSA is available upon request, in English to broadcasters and organizations who wish to distribute it rights-free.
A workshop designed for leaders and activists working in Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) who want to receive training in how to direct, produce, and edit broadcast-quality Public Service Announcements (PSAs) that stimulate dialogue and civic engagement from the grassroots up.
