This 30-second PSA created by Madinat Hamad Women Society (Bahrain Women Union) humorously depicts a young mother whose young children know more about technology than she does. In the first scene, three young children cry for her attention while clutching their favorite electronics in hand: Mom, I have an assignment to do! Mom, I want to play on the computer! They sweep her from the kitchen to the family room as she resists and shouts that she does not know how to use a computer. The next scene pictures the children dressing their mother in electronics and pulling on her with loud demands for iPods and emails. The overwhelmed mother suddenly imagines the opportunity to take IT classes to overcome her computer illiteracy. The last scene pictures the young mother picking up a flyer from under the door advertising computer classes. The slogan and tagline reads, “Your Access to the IT World.” The PSA encourages women to overcome illiteracy and to view technology as a bridge to their childrens generation. Madinat Hamad Women Society offers women educational opportunities and including training in Internet technology.
A workshop designed for leaders and activists working in Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) who want to receive training in how to direct, produce, and edit broadcast-quality Public Service Announcements (PSAs) that stimulate dialogue and civic engagement from the grassroots up.
