This 60-second PSA created by Awal Women Society begins with a young woman peering out from behind a doorway into the light. She emerges to find a rope, which she follows. It guides her to a table upon which she finds a pen. She collects the pen and continues to the next station where she finds a book. She collects the book and travels to the next station where she discovers a computer. The soundtrack indicates that this will be the peak of her journey. She collects the computer and follows the rope out to another doorway, similar to the one from which she emerged. A woman comes from behind the door. The woman with the tools for literacy passes the rope to the woman who has none yet, and the cycle continues. The PSA encourages women to undertake the journey to literacy by going step by step with the guidance of Awal Women Society. The tagline at the end of the PSA says, “We give you the guidance. You take the actions. Be Educated.”
A workshop designed for leaders and activists working in Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) who want to receive training in how to direct, produce, and edit broadcast-quality Public Service Announcements (PSAs) that stimulate dialogue and civic engagement from the grassroots up.
